Rubber Safety Surfacing and Playground Markings

Hard surfaces are not recommended on play areas, particularly beneath and surrounding play equipment installations. The type of safer surfacing to be installed will depend on several factors, including choice of play equipment, environmental aspects, budget and maintenance.

Safer surfacing provides a significant contribution to the overall safety of the play area and requires careful consideration during the planning and design stage of the project.

A wide range and individual choice of safer surfacing is available to enhance the safety of your play area. You can see the range by clicking on the links opposite. Play equipment not exceeding 600mm in fall height may be installed without safer surfacing, although an impact absorbing surface such as turf should be present.

We strongly recommend that all equipment, particularly that which exceeds 600mm fall height is installed with safer surfacing in compliance with BS EN 1177 standards.

A member of our project advisory team will also be pleased to provide you with detailed proposals and costings to meet your requirements. Whichever approach you choose, we can guide you through the whole process, ensuring you get the best possible service and product.
