Timber Specification and Re-enforced Fixings
The popularity of timber play equipment has dramatically increased due mainly to it’s visually appealing nature and the way in which it blends naturally with the environment, wherever it may be located.
Unlike many traditionally installed steel structures, timber is natural, appealing to the senses of smell and touch to adults and children
alike.
The timbers used by Venture Play are specifically selected to the highest quality standards, mostly Scandinavian 5th Kiln Dried Redwood, which is heart free, hence significantly reducing the risk of shaking (splitting and poor finish quality following machining).
During the machining process, the timber is planed all round and a radius is put on all edges providing an enhanced finish which is smooth to the touch, hence reducing the risks and hazards associated with splinters
The timbers are then pressure treated with Tanalith E*, a chrome and arsenic free timber preservative which is the latest in timber treatment technology, providing a desired service life of 15 – 30 years.
